Discount Booklet (Year round)

Every year, hundreds of companies agree to provide our members with a discount for their products and services. This booklet is quite handy for our members to have whenever they are looking to enjoy themselves in the GTA.

Website (Year round)

CESA maintains a website (www.cesa.skule.ca) open to the public with updates on upcoming events, photos of past events, profiles of our sponsors, our online version of our discount booklet, and information about the association and its executives.\

Lunch Box Sales (Year round)

CESA’s lunch boxes are sold weekly on campus. Each week, about 30 lunch boxes with a variety of Chinese food are sold to hungry students. These lunch boxes are bought from one of sponsoring companies and provide the company a chance to promote their food and generate revenue.

Orientation Dinner (Early September)

The orientation dinner provides a chance for our 400 members to learn about CESA, meet the executive team, and mingle with other members in games, dinner, and fun! Dinner is bought from one of sponsoring companies and provided for all members.

CESA Times Publications (October and February Issues)

1000 copies of each issue of the 20-page full-colour entertainment and life magazine, the CESA Times, are printed and distributed across campus. This free, bilingual magazine allows students to learn about what’s new and what’s hot in the GTA.

Mid Autumn Festival (October)

CESA’s Mid Autumn Festival is held to display Chinese culture for the university student community. We work to give our members and non-members a taste of China and background knowledge about the celebrated festival. Moon cakes are given out to our members and games are set up for our members to play and win prizes. Lunch is bought from one of sponsoring companies and provided for all members.

Badminton Tournament + Ping Pong Tournament (October)

Following the success of CESA’s badminton tournament last year, CESA will continue to host this event.  Also, CESA is introducing another new sports Tournament this year – the Ping Pong Tournament. These events will be open to all members and non-members and will provide a chance for a competitive tournament.

CESA 1st Annual Science Olympics (November)

The Annual Science Olympics is a new event that CESA will introduce to students at the University of Toronto. It offers all participants the opportunity to work in teams and apply their knowledge and skills from school and other experiences. It promotes the academic and educational aspect of students’ lives.

Winter Banquet (Early January)

The winter banquet has been an annual CESA tradition since 1977. The banquet is one of our most well known events and is a joint event between CESA, the University of Toronto Chinese Students’ Association, and the Scarborough Chinese Culture       Club for a total attendance of 200 students.

Chinese New Year (February)

The Chinese New Year Festival is CESA’s largest and most important event. This event features lion dances, martial arts, and games. Through this event, CESA brings awareness of the Chinese culture to over 10,000 Engineers at the University of Toronto. Lunch, New Year treats, and prizes are bought from our sponsoring companies and provided for all members.

Ski Trip (February)

The CESA skip trip dates back to 1977, where students are invited to enjoy a full day at the Blue Mountain Ski Resorts. This joint event sends 200 of our members to 2 days of fun skiing and bonding. The ski trip is always sold out and attracts larger and larger amounts of students each year.

3 on 3 Annual Basketball Tournament (March)

CESA will be running its 11th Annual Basketball Tournament in the 2010-2011 school year. This major event attracts competitive, professional basketball teams throughout the university to play and compete. A 3-point shooting contest is also held on the day of the tournament. This event is a great spectacle for our members.

Little Engineers Competitions (March)

Last year, CESA initiated the first ever Little Engineers Competition; a day of science and engineering education for children aged 6-12. This event was held at Market Village sponsored and was supported by Fairchild Radio and Fairchild Television.

Mahjong Competition (April)

The Mahjong Competition is another new event that CESA is introducing to its members this year. It is meant to be a friendly event for participants to relax and have fun with fellow colleagues. It also offers the opportunity for networking with other people at the competition.
